Getting started on the Anna Dress

Coming back from holiday was hard. Really, really hard. I don't want to brag, but we had a beautiful villa in the south of France and enjoyed 30c temperatures and constant sunshine. Landing in Leeds Bradford airport last Sunday to cold, grey skies and nothing to look forward but a full week at work made the holiday come down heavy.

There was one thing that sweetened my homecoming though - my Anna Dress pattern had arrived! I've spent all week thinking about the kind of fabric I want to use. Winter is coming (so they say in Game of Thrones) and so I think a good wool crepe might make for a nice snuggly Anna. But then again, it's not quite cold yet and a light cotton would still be comfortable enough to wear. In the end, I went for both.

Curtesy of the lovely B&M fabric stall in Kirkgate Market I bought a gorgeous black and white retro print cotton and a grey and purple tartan wool crepe. I've decided to start with the cotton and see how I go. I'm cutting out the pieces tonight. Next time I post I'll have my first Anna Dress made!
